101 Things I Overheard on a Train - Ian Durston

Motivated by the need to reduce his carbon footprint, Ian Durston decided that it was time to ditch his car for a more sustainable commute to work each day.  His chosen mode of transport?  The train.

Soon, Ian was enjoying delayed trains, crowded carriages, changing timetables, more delayed trains and cold platforms.  Compared to his warm, efficient, quiet car, this new commute was proving quite a challenge.

However, a surprise was in store.  Squashed into a packed carriage, with fellow commuters shouting to be heard, he started to overhear conversations that were surprisingly interesting, amusing, poignant, and even educational.  Conversations that really did cover 'life, the universe and everything'.  Listening to everyday people, chatting about everyday things, proved far more entertaining than listening to the car radio while still half asleep.

These diaries document the multitude of conversations that Ian overheard during the course of a year on the train.  They will have you laughing, crying and analysing life in ways that you would never have imagined possible.  Perhaps making sacrifices to help look after the planet isn't such a bad idea after all?
